Island Crikvenica

Crikvenica  (population 6,500) is situated in the most beautiful part of the northern Croatian coastline and has more than 100 years of experience in the tourist industry.

Its unusually favourable climate gives you more than 2,500 hours of sunshine a year. Crikvenica can be recommended all year long for all age groups because of its clean air that has no harmful allergens, smog or industrial dust and its clean sea. The indented coastline has long sandy beaches and well laid out and equipped bathing places. For those in search of peace and quite there are intimate and picturesque little coves.

In 1412 Duke Frankopan built a monastery alongside a little medieval church and granted it to the order of the Paulists.

The monastery, today the Kaštel Hotel, became the centre of culture and education. A settlement soon sprang up, and a port, and the town was called Crikvenica, after the old church. Eleven hotels of various different categories, features and locations, as well as accommodation in private houses, will make your stay in Crikvenica comfortable and interesting.

Hotels that are great for wining and dining, beaches with bars for refreshments and pick-me-ups, and numerous private restaurants are there to satisfy all your desires.

Concerts, exhibitions, shows featuring traditional songs and dances, and popular fiestas will fill up all your free time.

Fun and games by the sea, entertainments on the dance terraces, disco clubs and fishermen’s fiestas are some of the pleasures that Crikvenica has always attracted you with. The mild Mediterranean climate makes it possible for you to train for sports during the winter months.
