If you want a clear map of the island of Cres, then this is the map for you. The map can be used for printed matter, as a wall map or for billboard purposes.
Cres is the largest (405.78 km²), and after Hvar, the longest Croatian island. It is 66 km long and 12 km wide at its widest point. The island stretches in a north-south direction. The highest peak is Gorica, 648 m. The coastline is 268.2 km long. Administratively, it belongs to the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Its northern end closes the Kvarner Bay. To the west and northwest of it is the Istrian peninsula, and to the east and northeast is the island of Krk. Cres was once historically connected to the island of Lošinj by a thin isthmus, and later a canal was dug to separate the islands. Settlements are mainly located on the western side of the island. The largest is the town of Cres, the other settlements are very small, and some are without permanent residents. The island is home to the freshwater Vrana Lake, which is the main source of drinking water for the entire archipelago.
The island is connected by ferry services. From Porozina, a ferry runs to Brestova on the eastern coast of Istria, and from Merga, a ferry sails to Valbiska on Krk. Cres is separated from the island of Lošinj by the very narrow Osor Channel (Kavuada), in the town of Osor. There is a swing bridge across the channel,[3] and the road continues to the town of Mali Lošinj.
